This study seeks to characterize and identify the nature of excellence in the performance of business organizations.

It aims to identify the stages of the development literature of quality and total quality management, and how eventually led to the emergence of what is known for business excellence in performance.

This study tries to answer the following questions: how, when and why has emerged the concept of excellence in performance? What is its essence? What are the differences on the Total Quality Management and ISO 9000? Can we say that TQM has gone for good? What are the mai approaches and models of business excellence? How can achieve excellence in the performance of organizations?
